Hoarding (proprietaere fargerom 001) re-contextualizes found panels used to secure abandoned buildings. By presenting the panels as paintings, Rees forces us to question the role of intention in the creative process and empowers the belief in accidental aesthetic beauty.
With a solo project currently on display at New York's Room East and work in the Open Source: Art at the Eclipse of Capitalism group exhibition at Max Hetzler gallery in Berlin, Sebastian Lloyd Rees has succeeded well beyond his role in the duo The Lloyd Corporation, represented by Carlos/Ishikawa.
