Referencing the folk art of his native Nova Scotia, Brent Wadden's woven tapestry paintings explore the dialogue between craft and various modes of modernist art making.
Wadden's paintings piece together hand woven segments to create large scale, hard-edge geometric abstractions. The individual weavings are constructed from various natural and synthetic materials which take shape as they are stretched, distorting and shifting their patterns.
Wadden is represented by Almine Rech and Peres Projects. He will next exhibit in New York with Mitchell-Innes Nash in April.
