Palms Park 2013
Paper, thread, oil and enamel on wood support
50 x 44 inches (127 x 112 cm)
Sewing together the unlikely surface of paper before stretching over custom fabricated bars and applying delicate layers of oil and enamel, Jack Greer creates a translucent painting reminiscent of works by Rudolf Stingel. An active member of the Still House studio, a Brooklyn-based collective, Greer's work evokes a meticulous punk rock aesthetic, charged with nostalgia and memory.
In addition to a growing number of shows at top galleries including solo exhibitions at White Cube and Galerie Rodolphe Janssen, the young artist has also collaborated with mega brands like Nike and Opening Ceremony. He has shown alongside other Still House members at the Zabludowicz Collection, The Arts Club (London), and Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens (Deurle).
Secondary estimate: $12,000.00
