Ink and pastel on paper
40 x 26 inches (101.6 x 66 cm)
Merging figure with language, Aaron Garber-Maikovska’s Untitled takes cues from the staccato, yet fluid choreography of his own performance and video work. The artist overlays soft, velvety blocks of pastel over the bold curves of his own secret alphabet—a symbology that readily draws comparison to the gestural language of graffiti.
Aaron Garber-Maikovska lives and works in Los Angeles. He received his BFA from the University of California, Los Angeles. Recent solo exhibitions include Standard Oslo and Greene Exhibitions. He has participated in group exhibitions at Nagel Draxler, Kavi Gupta, and Karma International. His works are included in the permanent collection at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. His current solo show, Sidesteps and Outlets, is on view at Greene Exhibitions until June 6th.
